Unlocking Wealth Equity in Sacramento: The CityStart Blueprint
As Sacramento embarks on a pivotal journey towards advancing racial wealth equity, the CityStart Blueprint has been unveiled, aiming for transformative financial outcomes for its Black residents. From May 14-16, 2025, the City of Sacramento invites community members to engage in this initiative through a series of events designed to educate and foster collaboration.
Event Highlights: A Community-Inclusive Strategy
The CityStart Blueprint summarizes strategic efforts in areas such as workforce development, housing access, and enhanced financial services. This aligns with existing support structures already in place through initiatives like the Financial Empowerment Center and support for local businesses. “This blueprint reflects our commitment to addressing financial disparities in Sacramento,” stated Mayor Kevin McCarty, emphasizing the importance of community involvement.
Key Pillars of the Blueprint: A Roadmap for Prosperity
The foundation of the blueprint rests on three crucial pillars: workforce development, housing, and banking. Each pillar plays a significant role in establishing robust pathways to long-term wealth-building for the community:
- Workforce Development: Training opportunities aligned with high-growth sectors and boosting support for Black-owned businesses through strategic partnerships.
- Housing Access: Innovating financial assistance programs and launching initiatives like a Small Developer Incubator aimed at increasing Black homeownership.
- Banking Solutions: Collaborating with financial institutions to improve access to fair lending products and offering free financial coaching to empower residents.
A Call for Community Involvement: Make Your Voice Heard
To celebrate the release of this blueprint, the City will host a three-day convening starting May 14, where residents can learn more. Events include a Blueprint Release Event featuring community networking and workshops focused on housing equity. Your participation is crucial for shaping a future of equity and financial empowerment.
Aligning with the ethos of community governance, the CityStart initiative encourages residents to actively engage in this valuable discourse. Together, Sacramento can pave the way toward an inclusive economy where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this transformative movement. RSVP online today!
